In my opinion, the Marsa Alam region is one of the most beautiful areas in Egypt. Untouched desert landscapes, intact reefs and luxurious hotels await you in this rather quiet and somewhat less touristy destination. In the middle of this idyll is the Hilton Marsa Alam Nubian Resort on the famous Abu Dabbab Bay. We recently spent three weeks vacationing at this chic resort. What amenities does the Hilton Marsa Alam offer? What are the strengths and weaknesses? I have put together everything you need to know about this beautiful resort for you.
It's beginning December. At six o'clock in the morning the sun slowly peeks over the horizon. We sit comfortably on the balcony with our coffee and watch this spectacle. Every morning for three weeks. The spacious balcony of our room at the Hilton Marsa Alam Nubian Resort is one of my highlights of our entire stay Travel. It's so big that it could be more of a terrace - and the ideal place to start the day in a relaxed manner in the morning.

And if you start the day like this, your vacation can only be unforgettable. Or? I hope that you, my little one review helps make the right choice for you Vacation in Marsa Alam hold true.
An excellent choice?
During our vacation and now in retrospect, I was sure that we had made an excellent choice with the Hilton. I'll go into this in more detail later, but the strengths far outweigh the weaknesses. We always research accommodation extensively before traveling - and the Hilton won for us this year against all other resorts in the Marsa Alam region.
What immediately caught my eye was the beautiful hotel complex, which is built with one to two-story, snow-white buildings in the style of a Nubian village. The resort is a real beauty among the hotels in Marsa Alam, as hopefully shown in my photos.
Video – Impressions from the Hilton Marsa Alam
Below I have selected a video for you that shows the Hilton Marsa Alam very nicely. I also took my own recordings on site. However, I still have to cut it and upload it to YouTube.
Ideal for an extended vacation?
And so it happened as it had to happen: We had a wonderful holiday at the Hilton Marsa Alam Nubian Resort, which lasted a whopping three weeks. We went diving and snorkeling with the dive center on site, sunbathed and feasted extensively. You can also go for long walks around the resort.
Many of the hotel staff were super friendly and we got along really well. In particular, Mohamed Gelany, lifeguard and beach manager, made our vacation even more pleasant and put a lot of effort into our well-being every day. His commitment certainly helped make our vacation even more enjoyable.

Our experience with the Hilton Marsa Alam Nubian Resort
Our experience with the Hilton Resort was extremely positive. As mentioned at the beginning, our room with the very large balcony and sea view was really a pleasure. I would have liked to spend more time there on the balcony, but of course the day was packed - from diving and snorkeling to walking and sunbathing, there was always something to do.
There is no boredom
I can say this much with certainty from my own experience: you can stay at the Hilton Marsa Alam Nubian Resort for three weeks without getting bored. I often went diving with the Blue Ocean Dive Center, which is located not far from the hotel in Abu Dabbab Bay. You can also simply grab your snorkeling equipment and quickly jump into the water.
However, the Hilton's beach is a bit away from the swimming area. Since the Hilton is located in a nature reserve, swimming is not permitted directly on Hilton Beach. You have to walk a few meters towards Abu Dabbab Beach before you can swim and snorkel. This is also monitored very closely - which is good, after all Abu Dabbab is a nature reserve.
Beautiful reef in the nature reserve
But we knew that beforehand - and since the reefs around Abu Dabbab are a nature reserve, they are also particularly beautiful for diving and snorkeling. In fact, almost everyone who has been to the beach at the Hilton has gone into the water to snorkel one or more times a day. You can see countless turtles, colorful corals and thousands of fish there. And with a bit of luck even a manatee.
Be sure to choose All Inclusive
When it comes to food, all inclusive is highly recommended. All the coffee and colas we drank every day alone justify the full program. Unfortunately, some guests overdo it and start drinking alcohol early - but you have those everywhere. Not to mention, of course, three daily meals and snacks.
Strengths and weaknesses of the Hilton Marsa Alam
Now let’s move on to our assessments of the resort. As I said, we were there for three weeks and were able to get a good overview. I particularly liked the hotel complex with small Nubian-style buildings and lots of plants and flowers. It was really something to behold – both during the day and in the evening with lighting.
The second big highlight is the bay of Abu Dabbab. Some holidaymakers travel for hours and sometimes even come from Hurghada to be able to snorkel here. Completely right – because the reefs in the nature reserve are really magnificent. I have listed all of the hotel's strengths a little further down. In my opinion, the resort's strengths far outweigh its weaknesses.
Power
- Beautiful hotel complex with small Nubian-style buildings and lots of plants and flowers.
- One of the most beautiful bays for snorkeling - Abu Dabbab - right outside the door.
- The à la carte restaurants offer excellent cuisine. With All Inclusive, visits (any frequency) are included. Only some dishes and wine are subject to an additional charge.
- Friendly and helpful staff - the longer we were there, the better we got along with many of the employees.
- Basically a great environment of the resort with Abu Dabbab Bay. You can go for a long walk directly along the coast. Everything very safe.
- In-house jogging track in the complex for daily exercise.
- We booked six massages, which were very good and cheap - 35 euros per one-hour massage (list price was 70 euros, we negotiated with the seller for two days).
weaknesses
- The beach bar and the lunch there definitely have room for improvement. We've had much better experiences at other resorts. I would also strongly recommend making it compulsory to wear a t-shirt when eating. The numerous naked upper bodies were quite unsavory.
- The food in the main restaurant varies - sometimes it is very good, sometimes not so much. But you're sure to always find something. And the salad buffet, which is very rich, has to be positively highlighted. You can always put together a delicious salad yourself.
- Few flights direct to Marsa Alam; long journey by car or bus from Hurghada.
- Relatively long walk to the beach and even longer walk to the swimming area. However, a reliable shuttle bus is available. We still always walked to burn a few extra calories. The walk from the room to the beach lounger took about eight minutes at a fast pace - that's okay.
- I didn't particularly like the gym - I preferred to go jogging at the resort or on the beach every day.
- The Internet was available everywhere - but the transmission rates were very limited. Downloading a 300MB app took about 10 minutes.

Who is the Hilton Marsa Alam suitable for?
I would recommend the Hilton Marsa Alam Nubian Resort primarily to divers, snorkelers and beach goers. The Blue Ocean diving center I really liked it under Egyptian management. If you want to make it easier, just grab your fins and a diving mask and you can snorkel throughout the entire Abu Dabbab Bay. I also found the hotel's palm-lined beach incredibly beautiful and well-kept.
Beach vacationers will also feel very comfortable here, especially with the excellent care provided by the Beach Boys. However, you should be aware that you cannot go directly into the water. From Hilton Beach you have to walk a few meters further to Abu Dabbab Bay. We knew this beforehand and it didn't bother us.
As a Hilton guest, you can also lie down on a beach lounger in the middle of the bay, right next to the swimming area, for free - but then at your own risk when it comes to valuables.
The resort is definitely not suitable for gourmets. The food in the main restaurant varies between good and okay. The lunchtime food at the Beach Bar is not like that. The food in the à la carte restaurants is very good, but not for the highest demands.
Amenities and facilities at Hilton Resort
I've already mentioned and anticipated a lot of things, but the Hilton Marsa Alam Nubian Resort really has a lot to offer and, in our opinion, is an excellent hotel where you can have a lot of fun.
Rooms
I got the impression on site that most of the rooms are really nice. Almost all rooms have a garden view, pool view or sea view. There are no rooms that I have seen that face the back and have “mountain views”.
Our room was equipped with a king-size bed, air conditioning and a huge balcony with a sea view. The balcony was my highlight of the room. We didn't use the TV. Otherwise there is a refrigerator and kettle. There is also a WiFi router in the room.
Restaurants & Bars
I've already said a lot about the restaurants. There are a total of four restaurants - the main restaurant “Marsa” as well as the fish restaurant “Amasis”, the oriental restaurant “Breeze Oriental” - my favorite restaurant - and the Italian Noba. There is also a bar in the lobby, a nightclub and three pool bars.
I really liked the themed restaurants. The oriental restaurant in particular has really excellent cuisine in a pleasant poolside ambience. In the main restaurant the performance depended a little on the day's form - but you always found something. And as an all-inclusive guest you can eat à la carte practically every day.
Beach
The relatively small beach at the Hilton Marsa Alam is not directly at the resort, as is usually the case, but is accessed via a path lined with bushes. There you will find loungers with parasols and windbreaks, just like you would find in Egypt.
There is also a beach bar, the fish restaurant, a branch of the Blue Ocean diving center, the towel dispenser and a juice bar.
Polish
The resort has a total of four pools - a main pool, a pool with a small beach for children and two additional, smaller pools. The pool areas are generally very attractively designed and fit in very nicely with the hotel. When we visited in December, only the pool and beach were heated.
Accordingly, this pool was the most visited. I also swam in the other pools, but they were more refreshing. The foam party that takes place twice a week takes some getting used to - that wasn't really our thing.
Wellness & Spa
The spa is located in an older building of the hotel, which also houses the fitness studio and is operated by Planet Spa, which operates the spas in many hotels in Egypt as an external service provider.
The massages are recommended – they are really good and cheap. Sauna and hammam are offered in a kind of mobile cabin. There is no special pool in the spa.
Service
The service and friendliness of the staff was really excellent. The longer we were there, the better we got along with many of the employees.
Mohamed Gelany from the beach and our carpenter Moataz Ramadan made a special service to us - best wishes, just in case you meet them on your vacation.
Surroundings & Activities
There's a lot to do at the Hilton Resort Marsa Alam so you won't get bored. The most popular activities are diving and snorkeling. You can snorkel the entire bay on your own – bring your own mask and snorkel if possible.
For divers, there is the Padi Five Star Blue Ocean dive center, located in the middle of Abu Dabbab Bay. I've been diving with the base a few times and I'm very impressed. If you want to do land-based activities, you can ride camels and horses, go on a quad bike tour, or even book another tour into the desert with Blue Ocean.
Reviews from other guests
Normally I always show the online reviews about a hotel at this point. However, we noticed a special phenomenon at the Hilton Marsa Alam: We met a surprising number of repeat guests who had already visited the hotel several times. Some have stayed at this hotel eight to 15 times and raved about this hotel. In my opinion that speaks for itself. And we would book this hotel again in a heartbeat. Our experience has been extremely positive.
And the customer reviews online are also very good: the hotel has 4,6 out of 5 stars Google, 4,5 out of 5 TripAdvisor, 8,8 out of 10 booking.com and 5,4 out of 6 points HolidayCheck. The hotel left a very positive impression on both local guests and online reviewers.
My review of the Hilton Marsa Alam
I also agree with the positive reviews. We had a wonderful holiday there. That's why I forgive 9 of 10 points for this resort. The strengths of the hotel far outweigh the disadvantages - we were there for three weeks and were really sad when we went back to cold Germany. For me that is always the best sign that it was really nice.

Hilton Marsa Alam Nubian Resort – ideal for a holiday in Egypt?
My conclusion
The Hilton Marsa Alam Nubian Resort is a beautiful resort in one of Egypt's most beautiful regions. It is much quieter in Marsa Alam than further north around Hurghada. The hotel itself is located in an incredibly great complex with palm trees, flowers and well-kept lawns.
What I find very positive: There are actually no bad rooms. All rooms have a balcony or terrace and a pleasant view. Overall, the food is good – you can always find something. The hotel's biggest advantage is its location on Abu Dabbab Bay, which is truly a magnet for snorkelers and divers.
My conclusion is therefore clear: the overall package is right at this hotel. And we will definitely vacation in this beautiful house again. If you're looking for sun, beach, sea and relaxation on holiday, want to experience a little something and eat well, you've come to the right place at the Hilton Marsa Alam Nubian Resort.
Our visit to the Hilton Marsa Alam was entirely self-paid. All assessments about the hotel were made independently. I have provided all information about the resort to the best of my knowledge and belief.
