For my first trip to Mauritius I was primarily looking for a good and affordable resort on the island. Many luxury resorts are hardly affordable for normal people. That's why many travelers spend their honeymoon on the island in order to have such an outstanding experience once in their life. I don't want to wait until my honeymoon and I don't want to spend so much money. So I researched for a long time and my choice for the hotel fell on the Casuarina Resort & Spa. So much can already be revealed in advance: a very good choice!

Casuarina Resort & Spa is the perfect place to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and have a comfortable retreat. The resort offers a wide range of facilities and services to ensure guests have everything they need for a comfortable stay. As soon as you arrive, you will be greeted by the friendly staff who will do everything to make your stay as pleasant as possible.

I have to say: you feel right at home there and at home. This seems to be the case in general in Mauritius. As paradisiacal as the island is - it is the people who make the trip to the island so special. Is the hotel a good choice? My experience with Casuarina Resort & Spa Mauritius

The Casuarina Resort & Spa is very centrally located in Trou aux Biches. Only a road separates the resort from the beach. From the pool terrace you have a wonderful view of the beach. Really pleasant: As soon as you arrive, you will be greeted in a very friendly manner by the friendly staff. You feel in that Hotel right like home.

My highlights of the hotel were the pool with the view, the amazingly good spa treatments and the beautiful gardens. You can also have a drink here in the evening. The garden view room was good and functional. A renovation would at least not be wrong. But you actually spend the least amount of time in your room on a Mauritius holiday, right?

Hotel facilities – the Casuarina Resort & Spa at a glance

The Casuarina Resort & Spa is embedded in a spacious, tropical garden with many flowers and plants. I found the facility very nice. It was also cared for daily by a team of gardeners. Overall, the hotel gave me a very well-maintained impression.

This is particularly noticeable in the fact that, at least during our trip, I couldn't discover any unwanted animals in the room or in the hotel - and I look very closely. I have put together what the Casuarina Resort & Spa has to offer below.

rooms and suites

Casuarina Resort & Spa offers a variety of room types to meet the needs of all guests. From standard garden view rooms to deluxe suites with private balconies and sea views, we have something for everyone. All our rooms are spacious and elegantly furnished and have all the modern amenities you need for a comfortable stay.

Casuarina Resort & Spa has 106 rooms ranging from Standard Rooms, Privilege Sea View Rooms, Privilege Garden Rooms and Family Cottages (Bugalows) to meet all of guests' vacation needs. Some of the rooms are set amidst a tropical lawn surrounded by the vibrant colors of bougainvillea, hibiscus and coconut palms, while others offer magnificent views of the turquoise lagoon of Trou Aux Biches.

The Family Cottage, with its soft white curves and thatched roofs, blends fantastically into the tropical panorama of the Casuarina Resort & Spa lawn and is embellished with green materials. The rooms are spacious and shine with the dominant shade of orange and other colors meant to reflect the warmth and cheerfulness of Mauritius. The cottages are an invitation to gentle moments of rest and disconnection.

Restaurants

Casuarina Golf Resort & Spa offers guests three restaurants to cater to their taste buds. The important restaurant "Le Boucanier" is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and specializes in dishes from the region and from around the world. We ate there most of the time and were really happy. The best place for a quick bite during the day is Finger's poolside restaurant.

For a private and romantic dinner, guests can choose the "Tree Top" restaurant, open three times a week by reservation. Bar Oasis is the right place to enjoy all day or all night sipping your favorite drink.

spa and wellness

Located in a secluded part of the lodge, Casuarina Resort's spa is the perfect place to pamper your body, mind and spirit. The wellness retreat center has three single and one double spa suite. We treated ourselves to a 60 minute massage several times during the stay and it was really lovely. Each of the spa suites features volcanic rock, thatched roofs and an open-air bath, creating a mystical and tranquil sense of well-being.

There is also a relaxation pool for personal pampering, an anteroom for relaxation and a spacious steam bath where you can relax. You can enjoy a holistic spa package tailored to your needs and lifestyle by the experienced therapists.

Casuarina Resort & Spa reviews compared to my experiences

I noticed that the hotel wasn't rated very well. I have to say that I can't say for sure why that is. I suspect it's because the hotel failed to live up to expectations. If you book a good and cheap resort in Mauritius, you just don't get a 5-star resort with gold taps. If you want to spend a wonderful holiday in Mauritius at a reasonable price, the Casuarina Resort & Spa is the right place for you.

My conclusion

My price-performance winner for Mauritius is the Casuarina Resort & Spa. The hotel is super nice and centrally located in Trou aux Biches and basically offers all the amenities you need on vacation. Everything in the hotel is perfect - but you shouldn't expect five-star standards. I can only explain the fact that the reviews on Google only give an average of 3,7 out of 5 stars because the people who booked it had false expectations of the hotel.

I was really very satisfied - although I am certainly critical. Comparable hotels in the area with five stars are significantly more expensive. The Casuarina Resort & Spa Mauritius is ideal for everyone who is traveling to Mauritius on a budget and can do without exuberant luxury. In any case, I was very enthusiastic about the hotel and would book it again at any time.
