December is one of my favorite travel months of the year for many reasons. You can escape the Christmas hustle and bustle or after the festive season between Christmas and New Year you can relax for a few days on the beach under the palm trees. While many travelers are drawn to the mountains and snow at this time, as always, I prefer sun, beach and sea. The only question is: what are warm destinations in December? And where can you spend a warm vacation in December? I've looked at the most important travel destinations for you.
There are more than enough reasons for a trip in December: escape the dreary gray, escape the Christmas hustle and bustle or simply the usual Fernweh can drive travelers. I travel particularly frequently in December and was last in Thailand, Madeira and Egypt in this month. At all three destinations you get a lot of warmth and sun in December. In particular, the days between Christmas and New Year are a time for me when I like warm December Destinations visit, even if it is sometimes a bit more expensive and you have to book your vacation quite early.
The Canary Islands, Madeira and destinations in North Africa such as Egypt are particularly suitable for nearby travel destinations in the cold season - around Christmas it is still nice and warm there and it only takes 4,5 hours to fly from Central Europe to the eternal islands Spring. I love visiting warm and sunny travel destinations in December - whether in Europe or worldwide. It's fascinating that it is beautiful places in the world that right then summerly are, while in Germany it is dreary, gray and cold. 1. Florida: Sun, beach and Miami vibes in December
Hurricane season ends in Florida in October. And then calm winter weather returns to the Sunshine State - lots of sunshine with temperatures easily over 20 degrees Celsius. These are ideal conditions for spending a few warm days on South Beach in December or taking a trip to Key West.
Florida is definitely one of the most beautiful warm travel destinations in December that I like to visit again and again. 2. Mauritius: island paradise in the southern hemisphere
I could rave about Mauritius all day - and October to December is the best time to travel to the paradise island in the Indian Ocean. Dream beaches, delicious food, a varied leisure program, especially for divers and snorkelers, as well as incredibly great await you on site Hotels and resorts. 4. Canaries: warm island holidays in the run-up to Christmas
The Canaries always go - they are a year-round destination where it is still nice and warm and sunny in December. If you don't want to wander so far into the distance, the Islands of Eternal Spring are the right place for you. The archipelago belonging to Spain can be reached after only 4,5 hours. There is a suitable island for everyone, whether for beach vacationers, hikers, divers, stand up paddlers and many other sports. By the way, Lanzarote is generally considered to be the warmest and sunniest island in the Canary Islands.

North of the Canary Islands lies the green and picturesque island of Madeira - a truly beautiful piece of earth and ideal as a warm holiday destination in December. The island belonging to Portugal is ideal for hikers, adventurers and divers. Warm travel destinations in Europe in December – short flight distance and still warm?
Basically, the closer you stay to central Europe in December, the cooler the temperatures and the higher the chance of bad weather. And yet you can find warm destinations in December in Europe. In particular, the eastern Mediterranean is well suited to grab a few more warm and sunny days.
There are, for example, the islands of Cyprus and Crete, which are suitable as a holiday destination with a short Flight route to offer. Basically, the Greek islands and the Turkish Riviera are good choices. And Malta, as a green island, is an ideal travel destination in December when you don't have to be that warm.

Watch out for the best time to travel
I always keep the best time to travel to my favorite travel destinations in mind - because when planning your trip it is incredibly important to know when and where is the best place to go on holiday. This basically applies to all travel destinations and types of travel. You don't want to go on a skiing holiday in the middle of summer and you don't want to fly to Egypt in the middle of summer when it's 50 degrees Celsius. Nor would we want to be in Thailand or the Maldives during the rainy season.
