Autumn in Germany and Central Europe can get pretty uncomfortable. When planning a trip for the last few months of the year, many holidaymakers therefore ask themselves: Where can you take a good holiday in autumn and really soak up some sun? Where can you still find warmth at this time of year and maybe even go swimming? The good news: This works very well in many places around the world. I have handpicked some of the best travel destinations for October and November for you. If you would like to sunbathe and go swimming during your autumn holiday - our holiday tips are ideal for you.
If in September, October and November the Summer is slowly coming to an end - and it certainly is - things can get pretty uncomfortable in Germany and Central Europe. The temperatures are falling, the wind is picking up and it often gets pretty wet from the coast to Bavaria. The bad weather in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and the Netherlands can really get on your nerves.
A North Sea holiday on Norderney and Sylt or one Baltic Sea holiday in autumn in Warnemünde, Fehmarn, Timmendorfer Strand or Scharbeutz, for example, they are more for diehards and enthusiasts. The autumn storms on the coast can be quite uncomfortable. There are certainly travel destinations in October and November in Central Europe - but they are more for fans of thick jackets and umbrellas.

Destinations in October and November - my experiences, tips and ideas
Soak up a lot of sun and go swimming before winter
I'm already sitting in wait in late summer to find suitable travel bargains for my autumn vacation in the sun. Recently there was even an early bird offer where I saved 300 euros per person because I had already booked our autumn holiday in November in August. If you want to escape the German and Central European winter and enjoy the sun, beach and sea again, you have many options to find your perfect travel destination in October and November.
Below I will introduce you to my personal experiences as well as some tips and ideas on how you can make your fall vacation an unforgettable experience. Because my preferred travel time to sunny and warm climes is between the beginning of October and the end of March.
1. Small budget, short flight time
The Mediterranean Sea is a popular region for a sunny autumn holiday, with pleasant temperatures well into December. Of course it gets cooler and more changeable here too, but with a bit of luck you can look forward to 20 degrees and bright sunshine. Whether you choose the Spanish coast, the Greek islands or the Turkish Riviera, you will find something for everyone here. The Mediterranean is always an option - this also applies if you choose travel destinations in October and November.
2. Exotic travel destinations, summer bathing fun
If you want it to be even warmer, you can also orientate yourself in the direction of the equator or the southern hemisphere. Exotic countries with fantastic beaches, fascinating cultures and breathtaking nature await you there. However, you should find out beforehand whether you are going to be in the rainy season. Because nothing is more annoying than only seeing rain on vacation. Even if some people claim that they don't mind the rainy season, personally I always find it a shame when I have to spend my time in the hotel or it pours out of buckets for days.

I always keep the best time to travel to my favorite travel destinations in mind - because when planning your trip it is incredibly important to know when and where is the best place to go on holiday. This basically applies to all travel destinations and types of travel. You don't want to go on a skiing holiday in the middle of summer and you don't want to fly to Egypt in the middle of summer when it's 50 degrees Celsius. Nor would we want to be in Thailand or the Maldives during the rainy season.

Hey Sasha,
Finding a good destination for a relaxing family vacation is not that easy these days. Originally I was thinking of the Canary Islands, but wanted to see something different and have now booked the flights to Hurgada via Linz Airport. After we do three weeks, one of them goes by cruiser to Sharm el Sheik for a camel trek along the Gulf of Aqaba. We probably won't make it up to the Djebel Musa and St. Katharina with the children. The sunrise is supposed to be sensational up there. But it's nice and flat down there and maybe you can go snorkeling in Sharks Bay. Let's see. Anyway, thanks for the extensive information, it's great to access and definitely made the decision easier!
