Because mindless smartphone use is usually accompanied by lost thought and absence, which is pretty much the opposite of mindfulness.

Anyone who has managed to go without gadgets for at least a day will suddenly realize how dependent they have been so far. In this way, you can train for the digital detox on vacation during a weekend at home and prepare yourself for even better results on the trip. My own first digital detox weekend turned into a roller coaster ride of emotions. It took me a long time to achieve success with the digital detox.

Many people are specifically looking for places where they can relax and leave everyday life behind them without being distracted by digital devices. In Germany there are now a growing number of so-called digital detox hotels that serve exactly these needs.
