My personal experiences - Where is it most beautiful in Egypt?

I've been to Egypt almost a dozen times and seen different parts of the country. I've already been on a city trip to Cairo, visited Luxor and visited almost all of the important holiday resorts on the Red Sea. I was in Dahab and Sharm El Sheikh on the Sinai Peninsula and visited the resorts on the western Red Sea.

My favorite way to spend my time in Egypt in Egypt is snorkeling and scuba diving in the Red Sea - and the Marsa Alam region is particularly well suited for this.

I like it best in the very south in Marsa Alam. The region is still so beautifully pristine and there are not quite as many holidaymakers spreading out there. I also really like Makadi Bay and Safaga. I just don't like Hurghada that much. The place is the cradle of mass tourism on the Red Sea. I would just recommend a day trip to the old town.

However, my personal favorite is Marsa Alam in the south of the country. There you will find untouched nature and a quiet atmosphere. Photo: Sascha Tegtmeyer

Basically you can say: Everywhere along the Red Sea you will find excellent hotels and resorts where you can spend your vacation. The five-star resorts in particular offer excellent value for money.

Since I'm a diver, I always take the opportunity to do a few dives or at least go snorkeling. For holidaymakers, it is an absolutely exciting experience to snorkel with turtles or see dolphins and sharks while diving. The underwater world is the highlight in Egypt.

Sights – Where is the most beautiful place in Egypt?

I've been to Egypt about a dozen times - and on some trips I've gotten a bit bored - maybe because diving in certain areas wasn't as interesting as originally thought. You can then definitely go on longer trips within Egypt to the pyramids, to Cairo or to other regions of the country. However, you should plan these tours together with a reputable tour operator to ensure the safest and smoothest possible process.

1. Cairo and the Pyramids of Giza

If you love Egypt as a travel destination and have been to the land of pharaohs and pyramids several times, sooner or later you simply have to take a trip to Cairo and the pyramids of Giza.

Of course, no trip to Egypt would be complete without a visit to the Great Pyramids of Giza. These massive structures are among the most famous in the world and are an absolute must-see. You can also explore the nearby Sphinx and ride a camel around the pyramids.

If you want to experience the best of Egypt, there is no better place than Cairo. This vibrant city is home to a number of incredible attractions including the Egyptian Museum, the Citadel and the Great Pyramid of Giza. You can also take a felucca ride on the Nile or explore one of the many mosques and churches.

The city of Cairo is a massive juggernaut with over 20 million residents. The Nile runs right through the center and there are a number of historical buildings as well as the American university and the Egyptian museum. From Marsa Alam, Hurghada and Sharm El Sheikh you can reach the capital of Egypt by intercity bus or easily with a domestic flight in Egypt.

3. Visit to Sharm El Sheikh and Sinai

From Hurghada and Marsa Alam you can also fly comfortably and cheaply by domestic flight in new, modern aircraft to Sharm El Sheikh and discover the seaside resort at the southern tip of Sinai.

The small holiday resort is a little more dignified and luxurious than the western Red Sea. There are also excellent hotels and beautiful beaches where you can go swimming, swimming and diving. You can also take a trip to the small town of Dahab, which is a little further north on the Gulf of Aqaba.

4. Discover the Temples of Luxor

One of the most popular travel destinations in Egypt is Luxor. This city is home to some of the most impressive ancient ruins in the world, including the Valley of the Kings and the Temple of Karnak. Luxor also has a number of beautiful hotels and resorts, making it the perfect place if you want to experience everything Egypt has to offer.

Luxor is a city on the east bank of the Nile in southern Egypt. Ancient Thebes - the capital of the pharaohs during the heyday of their power - was once located on the territory of today's city. There are various temples from this period between the 16th and 11th centuries BC: the Luxor Temple and the Karnak Temple, which is located two kilometers outside the city. In addition, near Luxor are the royal tombs in the Valley of the Kings, which lies on the west bank of the Nile. Even beyond the temples, the lively metropolis on the Nile is well worth seeing.

5. Aswan in the very south

The city of Aswan, after which the famous dam is named, is relatively easy to reach from Marsa Alam. The distance is around 370 kilometers and can be comfortably covered in a minibus on developed roads.

Aswan is an Egyptian city on the eastern bank of the Nile. It has around 281.000 inhabitants, making it the fourth largest city in Upper Egypt after Luxor, Asyut and Fayyum.

6. Wadi El Gemal National Park

Wadi El Gemal National Park is one of three major national parks in Egypt. It is located south of Marsa Alam. Many different species of animals live here - including wild camels and wild monkeys.

Many species of birds can be found in the mangrove forests of the extensive park. Wadi El Gemal also extends to the Red Sea. There are extensive seagrass meadows there. Many manatees, sea turtles and fish species can be observed while snorkeling and diving in the national park.
