The beaches in Mauritius are world famous for a reason: they are simply breathtakingly beautiful! When I visited the island, I made it a point to walk a different beach every day and spend hours relaxing on the sand. There are so many beaches to choose from that it's impossible to see them all in a single trip. But that's not a problem, because you can simply choose your personal favorite - maybe near your hotel - and enjoy it to the fullest. Below I will list the most beautiful Mauritius beaches according to my personal recommendations.

All over the world - especially in tropical climes - you can find beautiful beaches that are sure to amaze you. No matter whether you are in Thailand, California or on Sardinia Walk along the beach - the sea attracts us, we can relax and let go. But on my worldwide Journeys I was particularly impressed by the coasts of one island:

The beaches in Mauritius are more than beautiful – they are magical. They won't let you go. The warm water, the fine sand, the small pieces of coral. You don't want to go anymore. The stress falls away and you can't help but jump into the crystal clear water.

I was in the water for hours

Sometimes I was in the water for hours and just couldn't get out. In the evening I was the only one sitting on the beach while the moon was reflected in the surface of the water. I have seen many beaches in the world, but none of them were like the beaches in Mauritius. You can read this, believe me or think to yourself: He's crazy.

My Mauritius beaches tips and recommendations

One of the most beautiful Mauritius beaches is undoubtedly in Trou-aux-Biches. The water is crystal clear and the perfect shade of turquoise - and the sand is as white as it gets. As mentioned before, I loved spending my days on the beach, walking there, just sitting in the sunset and swimming in the turquoise waters. If you are looking for a little peace and quiet, Trou-aux-Biches is the perfect place for you.

Another beach that I absolutely loved is Grand Baie. You can have a bit of everything here: there are plenty of activities to keep you busy, but it's also perfect for relaxing on the beach and soaking up the sun. I loved swimming in the lagoon and exploring the many shops and restaurants in Grand Baie. There are also delicious food stalls there – you can actually snack there all the time.

Last but not least, I recommend a visit to the Ile aux Bénitiers beach. This beach even more beautiful than the others because it is on an uninhabited island. So you need a boat to get there. But it's worth it. The water is gorgeous and the forest on the island is adventurous. But the most beautiful thing is the beach.

What also makes it special is the incredible sunset that you can watch there before taking the boat back. Each evening the sky turns beautiful shades of orange and red and the sun sets directly over the water while you can still see Le Morne mountain in the distance. This is an absolutely magical experience.

Mauritius is simply blessed with incredibly beautiful beaches all around the island. So you can't go wrong if you choose a beach on the island. But if you want to visit several places, you can of course drive around with a rental car and stop wherever you like. Parking on the beaches is usually free - and you don't have to walk far to the beach.

Below I have listed a selection of the most beautiful beaches in Mauritius. You can use this as a guide, visit these beaches and of course check along the way whether you can find other wonderful beaches in Mauritius.

1. Belle Mare Beach

Nestled on the dreamy east coast of Mauritius, Belle Mare Beach presents itself as a real jewel of the island, whose enchanting beauty shines both in photographs and in direct experience. With its status as one of the island's most visited destinations, this beach captivates both locals and global travelers.

At the heart of the stunning coastline lie two upscale hotels that offer guests an unrivaled tropical experience. Surrounded by a perfect ambience of white, finely ground sand and crystal clear, turquoise water, they are the perfect starting point to explore the stunning nature of Belle Mare Beach.

2. Beach Ile aux Cerfs

I love Trou aux Biches beach because it gives me everything I want in a vacation. Located on the northwest coast of Mauritius, it has a beautiful lagoon with clear water and soft sand. I can relax here and enjoy the warm sun, but I can also do exciting activities. I especially like snorkeling and watching the colorful fish and turtles. I've also tried windsurfing, kayaking and parasailing which is a lot of fun.

5. Flic-en-Flac

If you are looking for a dreamy beach in Mauritius, you should definitely visit Flic en Flac. This public beach stretches for several kilometers along the west coast of the island and offers you a breathtaking view of the turquoise sea. The sand is soft and white, ideal for sunbathing or a picnic. The water is clear and calm, perfect for swimming or snorkeling.

6. Le Morne Beach

One stretch of coast that will enchant you is Le Morne Beach on the southwest coast of Mauritius. My conclusion

I think you can tell that I'm raving about the beaches in Mauritius. They are definitely one of the highlights of the island – there’s no question about it. But which is the most beautiful beach in Mauritius is also a very individual question, i.e. a matter of taste. What one person finds beautiful does not necessarily mean that another person likes it.

For example, I love completely deserted beaches like on the Ile aux Benitiers. In Trou-aux-Biches there was a very good mix of activity and calm. The beach in Grande Baie was almost too busy for me. Basically, in this post I couldn't do more than tell you some of the most beautiful beaches in Mauritius. If you want to know whether you like them or not, you'll have to enter their address into your rental car's navigation system and stop by.
