The sun is still high on the horizon and burning down from the sky. The brownish water of the lake rests in front of us. Only a duck circles in the distance. It's hot and cloudless in Fieberbrunn. Summertime – carefree and easy. I always had the feeling that the sun shines more intensely in the Alps. That seems to be confirmed today.
And after a day in which we hiked several kilometers on the Steinplatte, up and down mountains, I need either a bucket of ice, a cold beer or cooling off in a fresh mountain lake. And at least the fresh mountain lake and the ice-cold beer are within reach. Because we are going to the idyllic Lauchsee in Fieberbrunn - the lake on the outskirts of the town, which is both an adventure pool and a biotope and which enchanted us from the first moment.

Below I have selected a video from Lauchsee for you. This gives you a really good impression of how beautiful it is on this lake.
A visit to Lauchsee became our daily ritual
On our summer vacation in the beautiful city of Fieberbrunn Hotel Alte Post We got used to a ritual pretty quickly: After a long day full of hikes and activities up and down the mountain, in which we covered kilometers in the warmth and beautiful sunshine, we drive to Lauchsee on the outskirts of Fieberbrunn in the early afternoon to relax, to swim and just let it be five. And that is the booster for the recovery factor in ours Vacation.

My personal Lauchsee experiences
I've said it again and again: Unfortunately, we don't have a comparable bathing establishment in Hamburg. You can relax there on the idyllic lawn, see the Wilder Kaiser and the Kitzbühler Horn in the distance and just have a good time. You sit down on one of the footbridges and let your feet dangle in the moor water. And if you need some action, you can rent a SUP board and take a lap around the lake.
If you have children, you send them to the playground. And if you're hungry or thirsty, you can grab a bite at the Lauchsee buffet or take your beer to your seat. The Lauchsee is also the first port of call for the locals - on weekends or during the week after work, the people from Fieberbrunn come here to unwind. The Lauchsee is not just a tourist attraction.
Picturesque location on the outskirts of Fieberbrunn
We first had to search a little until we found the Lauchsee. Of course this isn't a problem with the navigation system. The lake is located a little higher on the mountainside and on the outskirts of Fieberbrunn. It towers picturesquely over the town, so to speak. You can find parking there on site or you can also use it to see the lake Bicycle or reach it on foot via a hiking trail. The panorama in which the Lauchsee is embedded is simply wonderful and an eye-catcher in itself.
From the parking lot you go to the ticket office, pay the entrance fee and step onto the large lawn. You can spread out around the lake or even on the small island in the middle. The changing rooms and the restaurant are - when you come in - to the left of the cash register. The playground and swimming area for the kids are at the end of the large lawn.
In any case, the layout of the lake is very pleasant. When the weather is nice, there is a lot going on on the large meadow. But you can also settle on the other side of the lake and have peace and quiet there.
Traveling with the SUP – the Lauchsee is very natural
What I personally found so beautiful about Lauchsee: the water is very natural. On the one hand, it is moorland water, hence the cloudy brown color. Water is said to have positive health properties. And on the other hand, you have lots of big fish in the lake, which makes the water even more exciting.
I borrowed a SUP board from the checkout and paddled across the lake. One has to say very clearly: Lake Lauchsee is not suitable for doing large SUP laps. If you really want to go stand-up paddling in Fieberbrunn, you can SUP on the Pillersee try. You just take the board, glide along at a leisurely pace, maybe take a detour to the small island in the middle. Or you can use the board as a sun lounger and take a nap in the middle of the lake.
When I rode the SUP board on the Lauchsee, I was able to see some really big fish from the board. In the lake you will find a remarkable number of fish: carp, tench, pike, zander, sturgeon, eel, amur, tolstolob, perch and whitefish. If you are interested in fishing in Lauchsee, you will get all the information here .
Lauchsee Fieberbrunn entry – Entry is free with the PillerseeTal Card
I can't say exactly how much the actual entrance fee is because it was practical for us that the entrance fee was included PillerseeTal Card was free. So you don't necessarily have to worry about when you're coming and whether it's still worth it. You can simply go to the bathroom in the afternoon and enjoy the time until the evening.
We were there for two weeks, so the savings were really worth it. If we had paid admission for two people every day, it would have added up quite a bit over the duration of our stay. Please do not confuse the PillerseeTal Card with the guest card - these are two different cards.

Attractions at Lauchsee
The Lauchsee is an excellent destination in the PillerseeTal if you spend your vacation there. Not only can you relax on the lawn, but you can also do some activities for young and old. At the lake there is a trampoline in the water, a children's area that is separated separately, a children's playground, table tennis, table football, a volleyball court, a cozy restaurant with a terrace and the fishing area on the south bank, where fishing is allowed when the pool is closed.
You will find free parking spaces directly at the swimming lake. Of course there is also a spacious toilet. So you have everything you need on site to spend a relaxing and eventful summer day.
