With the Thermoflex TDC, Xcel has a suit in its range that is intended to warm the wearer and make them more active. The high-tech diving suit is equipped with a special inner material for lining. We have the Xcel Thermoflex TDC in constant use in the Red Sea. What can the diving suit really do?
The moment you take a diving suit out of your pocket for the first time and you smell the smell of brand new neoprene, one thing counts most: feel and look. He looks good with the shoulder patches and the big blue logo on the chest. Curious looks of the buddies on the safari ship you get inclusive: "What is that for one?" The wearer hears more frequently, because of Xcel Thermoflex TDC is a chic one.
The neoprene in the Xcel Thermoflex TDC is soft and flexible – the manufacturer calls this “UltraStretch”. It's amazing how quickly you can slip into this suit - and yet it still fits like a second skin! While others first take a shower to moisten the neoprene, the zipper on the back of the Thermoflex has long since glided smoothly upwards. The diver simply puts his arms through a simple yet effective cuff that gently hugs the wrists. On to continuous use Red Sea. On our diving holiday in Egypt the suit was used from morning to evening. The Xcel Thermoflex TDC lives up to its name - flexible seat and heat storage are impressive.

Thermo Dry Celliant - What is it?
The new owner, however, looks at the interior more skeptically: The fabric of the inner lining of the Xcel Thermoflex TDC with the red grid pattern and the red-yellow batik on the arms and legs looks like a suit for surfers in 1975. But be careful not to judge quickly! Just run your hand over this unusual, soft fiber and the future suit wearer will know that this material wasn't made to look pretty.
It can really do something: The inner fiber with the promising name “Thermo Dry Celliant” (TDC) converts the body's own heat into infrared energy, which is stored for longer, makes the wearer more efficient and reduces cooling down during the dive, according to the manufacturer about the Xcel Thermoflex TDC .
"Thermo Dry Celliant": The material keeps divers warm longer, making longer tours possible. Practical: Reinforced knee pads are ideal for sidemounters, for example, which kneel when they are put on. The shoulder patches not only look chic in the "X" optics, they also reduce wear through the jacket. "Donut seal": The simple cuff on the Xcel Thermoflex TDC sits comfortably on the wrists and provides plenty of freedom of movement. On the ankles there is a fine inner and a generous outer cuff, which is fixed with a zipper and Velcro. The neck cuff is not too tight and is optimally adjusted at the back with a Velcro fastener.

Diving in Egypt in heat and salt water - baptism of fire of the Xcel Thermoflex TDC in the water
We have to try this immediately! The optical properties of a suit lose their relevance the moment the diver stands on the platform of the safari boat in full gear and takes a big step forward. It's extremely hot on the boat and the water temperatures of the Red Sea are still very cool in March. The change in temperature is very unpleasant for divers. When the cool water runs down the top of the neck cuff, only the inner values count! Two to four dives a day lasting 45 to 80 minutes at 18° to 22° in the Red Sea for two weeks Egypt the Xcel had to get through. That's not exactly a small amount - how much “Thermo” is there in the Xcel Thermoflex TDC?
The answer is: a lot! By the fourth dive at night, even the most hardened will start to shiver - the “Thermoflex” is no exception. But while the first buddy signals “freezing” after 45 minutes, in the Xcel you can easily get past the 60 minute mark, so you feel fresh but never seriously cold. And back on deck, you're welcome to stay in the suit for a few minutes, which warms the diver up straight away because the material absorbs and converts the body heat given off. The Xcel Thermoflex TDC therefore passed the endurance test with flying colors.

My conclusion
The Xcel Thermoflex TDC makes you happy! The name says it all – flexibility and thermal insulation are great. It's easy to get in and out. It fits snugly as desired and is still comfortable. He also looks pretty good all in black. We at Just Wanderlust purchased the diving suit after the test and are still diving in it today (as of August 2018).
