The Suunto Zoop Novo is an entry-level dive computer from the traditional Finnish manufacturer and was developed for diving beginners. It is a simple, easy-to-use dive computer that has all the essential features that divers need. Affordable, the Suunto Zoop Novo is a great entry-level dive computer for anyone just starting out in diving. I tried the calculator in Mauritius for my Suuto Zoop Novo test and have put together the most important information about the model for you.
For many divers, an expensive dive computer like this is Apple Watch Incredibly a status symbol. They are proud to spend thousands of euros on their wrist computers. That's completely okay - everyone as they wish. However, I find diving computer models like the Zoop Novo all the more refreshing, as they simply have no airs and graces at all, but simply do their job precisely and reliably. The Suunto Zoop Novo is a great entry-level model in the world of dive computers.
Specially developed for beginners
It was specially developed for beginner divers and is equipped with all the important functions that divers need Diving require. The best thing about the Zoop Novo is that it's so affordable - it's a great entry-level dive computer that doesn't break the bank. If you have a bit more budget, you can also take a look at the Suunto EON Core and the Suunto D5 - both models also make a very high-quality and trustworthy impression.
Favorable price.
In particular, divers who have just completed their Open Water Diver first have to invest a lot in their own equipment. A jacket, diving suit, ABC equipment and accessories quickly add up to several thousand euros. A price-performance dive computer like this is ideal for saving the budget. In this blog post I will put the calculator to the test in my Suunto Zoop Novo review and see how it compares to other dive computers on the market.

Suunto Zoop Novo test – my experiences with the entry-level diving computer
My personal Suunto Zoop Novo experiences are consistently positive. The Zoop Novo is a great entry-level dive computer that has all the essential features a diver needs. It's easy to use, which makes it a good choice for beginner divers and intuitive for me as a beginner. I dived with this model in Mauritius and I have to say: no special incidents - in other words: everything perfect.
The dive computer worked from the first second. The nitrox settings could easily be made in seconds. As usual, it turns itself on when you descend and starts the calculation. In general, it is said about Suunto that the bottom times are calculated very conservatively. I can't say anything about that because I don't have a direct comparison value. The model is incredibly robust - although the design takes a little getting used to. Some would say it's a bit bulky. The displays on the display are nice and big and all the key figures are easy to read.
My personal Suunto Zoop Novo experience was therefore clear: The dive computer was a reliable companion on my fun dives in Mauritius and I am sure: no one or an ordinary holiday diver needs more dive computers.

The Suunto Zoop Novo is a wrist-worn dive computer that is easy to use and packed with essential functions. It has a large display that is easy to read even in poor lighting conditions. The computer also has an automatic safety stop function and depth and time alarms.
Suunto Zoop Novo is also Nitrox compatible and can be used with Suunto's optional wireless transmitter. The computer comes with a comprehensive manual to help you get the most out of your dive. Other features of the Suunto Zoop Novo include:
- large display with backlight

Formulated for diving beginners: The Suunto Zoop Novo can do everything a dive computer for beginners should be able to do.
1. Dive Planner
One of the most important functions of the Suunto Zoop Novo is the integrated dive planner. This feature allows you to enter your desired dive parameters and then receive a recommended dive plan. The dive plan takes into account your dive profile, gas consumption and safety stop parameters. This is a great tool for new divers who want to safely plan their dives.
2. The deep stop function
The deep stop feature is a safety feature that activates automatically when you reach a certain depth. This feature keeps you at that depth for a set amount of time before slowly bringing you back to the surface. The deep stop is designed to prevent decompression sickness by giving your body time to adjust to the change in pressure.
3. Nitrox Compatibility
Nitrox is a type of breathing gas typically used by advanced recreational divers and technical diving. It is a mixture of nitrogen and oxygen that has a higher concentration of oxygen than air. Suunto Zoop Novo is Nitrox compatible, which means it can be used with Nitrox mixes up to 50%. This is a great feature for divers who want to use the computer for both recreational and technical diving.
4. Wireless air integration
Wireless air integration is an optional feature that can be added to Suunto Zoop Novo. This feature allows the dive computer to wirelessly receive information from a tank mounted transmitter. The information displayed on the computer includes your current tank pressure and estimated time remaining (ERR). This is a great feature for divers who want to closely monitor their gas usage.
5. Suunto RGBM
At the heart of every Suunto dive computer is a special algorithm, the Reduced Gradient Bubble Model (RGBM), which calculates the decompression time for a single dive. Always looking for the best decompression model for each type of diver, Suunto is refining the RGBM algorithm in collaboration with developer Dr. Bruce Wienke continuously. The results of years of scientific research and underwater experience are combined.
The algorithm thus represents pioneering work that is reflected in many other dive computers on the market. Its reliability has been proven in millions of successful dives. Used in the Suunto Vyper Novo, Cobra, Cobra3, Zoop Novo, D4i and D6i dive computers, RGBM provides an accurate picture of what is happening in the body during a dive.
