In the penultimate week of October, the popular Tala Bay Dive Challenge took place again in Tala Bay near the port of Aqaba in Jordan. 42 divers mastered the competitions at the northernmost point of the Gulf of Aqaba and had a really exciting week.
There's a lot going on in tranquil Tala Bay on the Jordanian Red Sea coast: end October The small town for divers once again hosted the Tala Bay Dive Challenge. “The Tala Bay Dive Challenge was a complete success again this year!” reports Mirela Becker. The organizer of the exciting event for divers is very satisfied with this year's Dive Challenge. She first launched the event a few years ago in the Egyptian diving mecca of Dahab.
The challenge took place on the Gulf of Aqaba for the third time - and certainly not without reason: The diving conditions at the northernmost point of the Gulf of Aqaba, the northeastern arm of the Red Sea, are excellent: the divers were able to enjoy excellent marine flora and... -fauna, mild water temperatures. 29 degrees Celsius and just as pleasant air temperatures as well as lots of sun. The unique diving area of Tala Bay is located a few kilometers south of Aqaba, the only port in Jordan. The small, only 30 kilometer long stretch of coastline in Jordan Red Sea has so far been spared from mass tourism, so that Tala Bay and Aqaba are still among the insider tips on the Red Sea.
Tala Bay Dive Challenge – photo competition and workshops were on the program
This year, the Tala Bay Dive Challenge program was again anything but boring: As in previous years, the focus of the event was a photo competition with well-known underwater photographers, in which the participants took many great photos from the underwater world of Tala Bay have. There were also many informative workshops on the program, after which there was a quiz with the most important information about Tala Bay and Jordan - all participants were able to shine with many correct answers and a lot of knowledge about Jordan and Tala Bay.

A lot of action at the Tala Bay Dive Challenge
This year the Dive Challenge was once again hosted by the Radisson Blu Hotel Tala Bay and the local Extra Divers diving center. Diving is actually a sport that is usually less about competition and more about relaxing and enjoying yourself underwater. Not so with the Tala Bay Dive Challenge: There was never a dull moment in this competition for divers, as there were a lot of tests that had to be mastered: competition questions had to be answered, the photo competition took all the photos and the participants really got their act together in the clean up made every effort to leave the Red Sea a little cleaner than they found it.
In the end, this year's Dive Challenge was won by Sven Boppré thanks to the beautiful underwater pictures that impressed the jury. “Learning from professionals, enjoying a super organized week with old and new friends, breathing with Nik, taking photos with Gerald, Michael and André – all of this was priceless for me!” says Sven Boppré enthusiastically.
The lucky winner received a Scubapro diving computer and 1000 euros in prize money. Boppré doesn't have to look long for motifs underwater. The Red Sea around Aqaba and Tala Bay has it all: wrecks such as the famous Cedar Pride or a tank that was sunk off the coast can be found at various diving sites. The King of Jordan himself feels for them wreck and the underwater world of the narrow coastal strip.
