My experiences with the iPhone 13 Pro Max in the test

As a blogger and creative person, I make extensive use of the camera on every iPhone. With the iPhone 6, the camera became so good for the first time that photos of me that I took with an iPhone were printed in magazines. Since the iPhone 11 Pro Max, I’ve been taking photos almost exclusively with my smartphone – when I travel, I only have a mirrorless system camera or SLR with me as a backup and I hardly ever use it anymore.

With the iPhone 13 Pro Max, the photos are so good that they outperform many conventional cameras. Not to mention the videos: they are so sharp in 4K that the eye can hardly see them. Ideal for anyone who wants to take high-quality photos and videos for their blogs, social media channels or external media. The quality is really outstanding.

My second highlight of the iPhone 13 Pro Max is the large, ultra-sharp 120 Hertz display. Thanks to the fast refresh rate, this runs more smoothly than ever before. However, this also has a huge disadvantage: once you have used a device with a 120 Hertz display, you simply can no longer tolerate devices with 60 Hertz.

The iPhone 13 Pro Max has an improved camera system with a new wide-angle lens that allows you to capture significantly more area in photos. The iPhone 13 Pro Max is one of the most expensive phones out there, but it's also one of the best. The price, which starts well above the 1000 euro mark in Germany for the 128 GB model, is of course not exactly cheap for many users. In Germany you can spend up to 1829 euros for an iPhone 13 Pro Max with 1 terabyte of memory. On the other hand, one can also argue that with an iPhone you get a professional photo camera, a high-performance computer and a telephone in one. Of course, everyone has to know for themselves whether they can and want to afford the high-end gadget. Alternatively, the iPhone 13 and the iPhone SE are also powerful and somewhat cheaper.

Are the cameras of the only camera enough when traveling?

In my opinion, the cameras of the iPhone 13 Pro Max, including the image improvement through artificial intelligence, are not only sufficient - they are significantly better than many mirrorless system cameras and SLR cameras. I only have my mirrorless system camera with me as a backup just to be on the safe side. The quality of the images - although I have an expensive system camera - is visibly worse than the iPhone recordings.

The iPhone 13 Pro Max's strengths far outweigh its weaknesses. The most important strengths of the model include the ultra-sharp cameras, the smooth 120 Hertz display, the high-quality design and the long battery life. The biggest disadvantage of the model is the comparatively high price, which starts well above the 1000 euro mark in Germany. You can spend up to 1829 euros for an iPhone 13 Pro Max in Germany. However, I would say very clearly: if you consider that you basically get several devices like a professional camera and a phone in one, of course puts the price in a different relation.
