There are numerous excellent destinations for wellness holidays around the world. On the one hand, you can of course spend a wonderful short vacation in your local areas in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. But of course there are also numerous opportunities around the world to spend a really relaxing holiday. A nearby short-haul destination is Mallorca.

For several years now, more and more premium hotels with spa and wellness offerings have been opening on the island in order to attract a more affluent clientele and get rid of the dingy image. You can combine a luxury trip to Mallorca with a wellness holiday. The situation is similar in the Canary Islands: on Gran Canaria, Lanzarote and Tenerife there are numerous top hotels with many offers for wellness holiday fans.

The Asian countries in particular are predestined here, as they have a centuries-old culture of relaxation with meditation, yoga and massage. Wellness vacation in Germany, Austria and Switzerland

There are numerous excellent wellness hotels and resorts throughout Germany that are particularly suitable for a short break with a feel-good factor. You can practically spend your everyday vacation here without having to put up with long journeys and departures. In recent years, more and more ordinary hotels with wellness offers and spa temples have drawn attention to themselves in order to do justice to the general trend towards feel-good holidays. Basically, you only have to choose a travel destination and you will definitely find a wellness hotel there.

Where you end up going to relax is entirely up to you: whether in the very south of Germany in Bavaria, for example on a wellness holiday in Bad Griesbach, on the edge of the Alps, in the Black Forest or on the Moselle, on the Baltic Sea coast or the North Sea. In travel destinations such as St. Peter Ording and Sylt there are a number of hotels and resorts that are suitable for a wellness holiday. If you are looking to spend as long and cheap a wellness holiday as possible, you should take a look at Thailand. In recent years, many very high-quality hotels and resorts have been created there, where you can retreat to a wonderful detox retreat and really unwind between massages, a spa and an infinity pool. Some of these hotels are very remote, but most are located in metropolitan areas. For example, we had very good experiences on the tourist island of Phuket and on Koh Samui.

Wellness vacation in the Maldives

A wellness holiday in the Maldives is probably the ultimate luxury trip. Significantly more expensive than in Thailand, for example, you can really relax extremely well on a small Maldives resort island and enjoy the ultimate luxury of a feel-good holiday. Many of the resort islands have incredibly beautiful wellness areas where you can get massages, sit in the jacuzzi and be pampered to the letter.

In this way, everyday life can be completely forgotten within a very short time. In the middle of the Indian Ocean you can really switch off with the wonderful spa treatments and after one to two weeks of permanent relaxation you will be really relaxed on the beach. A spa holiday in the Maldives is truly in a class of its own!

I always keep the best time to travel to my favorite travel destinations in mind - because when planning your trip it is incredibly important to know when and where is the best place to go on holiday. This basically applies to all travel destinations and types of travel. You don't want to go on a skiing holiday in the middle of summer and you don't want to fly to Egypt in the middle of summer when it's 50 degrees Celsius. Nor would we want to be in Thailand or the Maldives during the rainy season.

Wellness trips – tips for the perfect vacation

If you want to choose your ultimate wellness vacation, you should consider a few important tips and tricks so that the vacation is really fun from start to finish and doesn't miss the point.

Because if you come back from your wellness vacation stressed, the whole detox retreat will be a waste. With our wellness holiday tips and tricks you are very well prepared and will definitely come back from your holiday relaxed.

1. Book a cheap wellness holiday and plan it cleverly

Relaxation starts with the booking. Now you should choose a high-quality tour operator (test winner) and plan your wellness trip as cleverly as possible. This includes, for example, avoiding vacation times. There are several reasons for this: on the one hand, wellness trips outside of the holidays are often cheaper and on the other hand, your inner contemplation is not interrupted by the kids of other vacationers (we love children and family vacations, but especially on a detox retreat, traveling with Kids can really be counterproductive). In the low season it is much quieter in many travel destinations and you save a lot of money at the same time.

2. Treatments: choose the right spa treatments

Not every treatment is suitable for every wellness vacationer. When choosing your wellness hotel, you should make sure that you take your preferences into account. For example, we are real sauna fans and value high-quality full-body massages. Other people might prefer shoulder massages, facial massages, large swimming pools and light cuisine. Such factors should definitely be taken into account when booking and see what your wellness hotel specializes in.

3. The right destination for the wellness journey

We have already introduced you to a lot of travel destinations for wellness holidays. But of course there are many other destinations for your feel-good retreat. Similar to the type of right treatment, you should also choose your wellness holiday destination carefully. Thailand is cheap and a wonderful destination for a wellness holiday.

But at the same time, not everyone can enjoy the climate, the high humidity and the heat. If you can't stand the heat, a wellness holiday in Thailand could quickly become sheer stress. In this case, you should perhaps look for a high-quality wellness hotel in Germany on the coast or enjoy the moderate temperatures on the Mediterranean in spring and autumn.

4. Combine a wellness trip with culinary delights and culture

Wellness vacation alone is great and fun. But a feel-good trip is even more enjoyable if you combine it with other travel themes such as sightseeing, cuisine and culture. Wellness treatments sharpen the senses and you are much more receptive to art, culture and all other pleasures in life such as culinary delights. Accordingly, you should also combine your wellness holiday with other travel themes and enjoy your travel destination even more intensively.

5. Sticking point arrival and departure

When it comes to wellness holidays, arrival and departure is an absolute sticking point. This applies to both driving and flying. Those who stand in traffic for hours on their way to and from the wellness hotel and have to drive hundreds of kilometers will initially arrive at their holiday destination stressed. The bigger problem, however, is that after the end of the wellness journey you have to go all the way back and you will lose a lot of the vacation relaxation again.

It's a similar situation if you've booked a flight with a low-cost airline and have to squeeze into tiny seats during the trip. Maybe you should make sure to book premium economy or, even better, business class, especially on feel-good trips and wellness holidays. In any case, the aim of your wellness holiday should be to somehow save the relaxation you gained on the trip into everyday life when you get home.

There is hardly any type of travel where the all-inclusive component of the holiday makes more sense than a wellness holiday. Because if you really want to relax, switch off and completely forget about the world, then it just makes sense not to have to worry about issues like money at your vacation destination. A wellness holiday means being able to draw on your full potential and recharging your batteries.

When you no longer have to think about food, you can fully focus on physical and mental relaxation. Of course, that doesn't rule out the fact that you can also go out for a nice meal during your wellness vacation. With an all-inclusive wellness holiday, you basically have one less thing to worry about.

Wellness holidays are an important contribution to physical and mental health

What characterizes an all-round successful holiday with you? What makes a trip unforgettable for you? The answer to that is different for most people.
