Lüneburg Heath Tips when it rains – What can you do?
When it rains, you have plenty of opportunities to go on great trips and activities in the Lüneburg Heath. By the way, not only if you are already on vacation there anyway - a day trip from Hamburg or Hanover is of course also an option. The Lüneburg Heath can be reached in less than an hour via the A7 motorway. And it's worth it: the list of attractions and possibilities is very long.
I recently spent a weekend in the beautiful town of Bispingen - unfortunately it was gray on gray and it rained quite a bit. I had to think about what I can do in the bad weather. Of course I also spent time outdoors on some discovery tours. But especially when it's pouring heavily, there are of course also some activities in the dry.
That's why I did a lot of shopping in the Designer Outlet Soltau, looked at the crazy house in Bispingen and visited the adventure labyrinth - Germany's largest wooden labyrinth. And I was very enthusiastic about the Heide-Kastell Iserhatsche, a really mystical and magical place on the outskirts of Bispingen. I would like to introduce you to these and other attractions in more detail in my Lüneburg Heath tips when it rains.
1. Designer Outlet Soltau
A rainy day is always the ideal way to stroll from shop to shop and shop to your heart's content. The Designer Outlet Soltau (Instagram: @designeroutletsoltau) is like a small town of shops of well-known brands. That's why I went on a shopping tour on the Saturday of my Lüneburg-Heide weekend and explored the shops.
Some of my favorite brands (such as Lacoste and Nike) have offices here. In this respect, it was not difficult for me to hunt for big bargains for a few hours on Saturday. In between there was cappucino and Asian food, so I drove back to the hotel on Saturday afternoon, packed with bags and happy about all the great new things.
In the outlet there are numerous previous year's collections and overproductions, on which visitors get between 30 and 70 percent discount. In addition to well-known fashion brands, there are also many products from the areas of shoes and leather, outdoor, children's clothing, accessories and home furnishings. The outlet is approximately 13.500 m². It is operated very sustainably: energy generation works via a biogas combined heat and power plant.
Make sure you plan a few hours for a visit - experience has shown that time flies by quickly once you're in the shopping bug. Pro tip: With the ErlebnisCard, you can pick up a voucher booklet at the Center Information, which gives you another ten percent extra discount.

2. The crazy house in Bispingen
The Crazy House in Bispingen can be seen from afar and you really don't have to look far. Because this is a single-family house that is completely upside down - practically rotated by 180 degrees. All the furnishings in the house hang from the ceiling. It's really easy to forget where up and down is - some visitors have to get used to it first.
Take a little time to get your sense of balance used to the new perspective. Then the fun can begin, because everything in the house is upside down. It doesn't matter whether it's the kitchen, living room, bathroom or children's room - all the furnishings hang from the ceiling. There are so many exciting details to discover on the discovery tour through the upside-down building, such as the model railway that runs overhead.
By the way, the crazy house is the most fun when you have a camera with you and can take funny photos with friends or family - upside down from the toilet bowl or face down from the washing machine. Before visiting, guests can find inspiration on the Instagram account (@dascrazyhouse).

3. Lüneburg Heath adventure labyrinth
After my visit to the crazy house, I went to the Lüneburg Heath adventure labyrinth across the street. The maze is a great destination for both children and adults. It's not just about finding the right path, but also solving a riddle on a thrilling rally and learning exciting facts about the Lüneburg Heath.
The labyrinth is 2800 m² and has a lookout tower in the middle. There are 18 adventure stations where you have to climb, balance and trade. The labyrinth consists of a wooden connector system that is redesigned every year.

4. Heide-Kastell Iserhatsche
A mystical and unreal place is located on the outskirts of Bispingen - the Heide-Kastell Iserhatsche. This is a property with an old hunting villa, which contains what is supposedly the most beautiful room in Germany (the "Diana Sanssouci Room" in the Rococo style) and the artificially raised Montagnetto Mountain (Mountain of Collecting Passion), which, among other things, houses the largest collection of beer bottles in the world.
The property is surrounded by a baroque-style park with a tree full of bells. The area offers so many charms and impressions that you can hardly take in everything. So I took more than two hours to really let everything sink in. The special atmosphere of this place simply captivates.
Iserhatsche ("iron heart") is a museum, a work of art and a landscape park in one. The eccentric property was designed by the Berlin painter Uwe Schulz-Ebschbach.

Lüneburg Heath Tips for rainy weather – put on rubber boots and go outside
Although there are an incredible number of indoor activities in the Lüneburg Heath that you can do on rainy days, you should of course also take a walk or two in nature when the weather is bad. With rubber boots and a rain jacket, hiking in the forest, visiting the wildlife park or strolling through the heathland is almost as much fun as in the sunshine. As is well known, a little rain has not harmed anyone.
In autumn the walk among the colorful foliage is particularly worthwhile and in winter you can of course even trudge through the snow with a little luck. And on a rainy summer's day you might be happy to cool off from the heat. The nature in the Lüneburg Heath is definitely worth a visit even when it rains. My Lüneburg Heath hotel tip – Heidehotel Bockelmann
During my weekend in Bispingen I stayed at the Heidehotel Bockelmann - a real traditional house in the Lüneburg Heath. The small hotel is totally cozy and characterized by the family atmosphere and hospitality. I felt totally comfortable here from the very first moment.
The house has 18 double rooms, six triple rooms and three single rooms. I had a cozy holiday apartment in a holiday home about 200 meters away, which is very pleasantly situated in the countryside on the outskirts of Bispingen - ideal, by the way, for anyone who is traveling with their four-legged friend.
My highlight in the hotel was the hearty regional food - "honest, down-to-earth and hearty" - as it is called by the hotel, it is. The traditional, home-brewed beer is incredibly delicious. The meat in the restaurant comes from our own cattle breeding. My conclusion is therefore clear: If you want to spend a relaxing weekend of wellbeing in the Heide, you have come to the right place at the Heidehotel Bockelmann.
Rooms: Clean and cozy, spacious holiday apartments - the hotel is gradually renovating all units - so there are currently newer and older rooms and holiday apartments
Restaurant: Regional cuisine with home-brewed beer and own cattle breeding
Prices: from 64 euros per night - offers and package prices available
