So I bought an inflatable life buoy for my activities such as stand up paddling, snorkeling, freediving and swimming and used it in all water sports activities at home or on my travels around the world. Restube works very simply: a large life buoy is folded up and stored in a small bag attached to a nylon belt. Together with the folded buoy there is a CO2 cylinder in the bag, which is closed with a Velcro fastener. The CO2 cylinder can be pushed in using a small drawstring that protrudes from the bag. I have been able to gain experience with Restube since 2016 because I bought a model for my water sports activities back then. Restube on the plane - what to watch out for with the inflatable lifebuoy when flying?

In Egypt I saw how they took the CO2 capsules out of checked baggage at the airport and disposed of them directly on site. If this happens to you, your capsules are lost. I would therefore urgently proceed as follows: Basically, you can transport Restube on the plane - that's no problem. However, the manufacturer recommends contacting the airline before the flight and registering Restube including the CO2 capsules at least 48 hours before departure. In my personal Restube experience, the biggest weakness seems to me to be that the life buoy is often not recognized when a life jacket is required. For example, in Egypt I wanted to snorkel in a bay where a life jacket was required. There my rest room was not recognized as a replacement and I had to wear an uncomfortable life jacket, even though the rest room would have been sufficient for snorkeling. My detailed conclusion

I have been using the inflatable life buoy for all activities in and on the water since 2016 - both in my home waters and when traveling - for example SUP in Thailand or SUP in the Maldives.
