The Suunto 7 Stone Gray Titanium is two things at the same time: a stylish smartwatch without ostentation and ostentation and yet anything but a gray mouse. The Finnish manufacturer's current 7 series has been on the market since last year. With the new facelift in Stone Gray Titanium, the sports watch has been visually adapted - but there are also innovations on the software side. How did the watch perform in my Suunto 7 Stone Gray Titanium test? I have put together the most important findings for you.
Typically, the design of a smartwatch model does not change within a generation. A manufacturer may offer software updates, new bracelets or perhaps even different colors for the watch case - usually nothing changes in the chassis. It's different with the Suunto 7 Stone Gray Titanium, which has been released in a completely new look - namely with an elegant, minimalist titanium bezel that Sports Watch a very suitable everyday companion. This is particularly emphasized by the bracelet made of microfiber fabric.
While the stainless steel models of the Suunto 7 look more like robust outdoor smartwatches, the Suunto 7 Stone Gray Titanium is more delicate and light-footed. Certainly perfect for anyone who wants to wear their smartwatch as a visually appealing accessory in the office. At the same time, the watch also cuts an excellent figure off-road Jog, Stand Up Paddling and all other sports, the smartwatch is an ideal companion, as I found in my Suunto 7 Stone Gray Titanium test.
However, there is a small catch: doing sports with the high-quality microfiber bracelet is such a thing. If you don't want to ruin the good thing after a few workouts, you should definitely get a second sports bracelet for activities.

Suunto 7 Stone Gray Titanium in the test – my impression
Basically, Suunto has revised the existing 7 model in nuances with the Suunto 7 Stone Gray Titanium. This is what I notice at first glance: the watch is significantly more elegant, simpler, more minimalist and noticeably lighter than that Suunto 7 stainless steel (test)that I did last Summer had already been tested extensively. I immediately noticed the soft and flexible fabric bracelet, which is super comfortable on the skin when worn.
And the inner values of the Suunto 7 Stone Gray Titanium are also convincing. The smartwatch can be operated intuitively - both via the touchscreen and the four buttons, three of which are on the right side and one on the left. Setting it up with your smartphone only takes a few minutes. A software update is installed during configuration.
For me, this is always a good sign that a sports watch is continually being developed further by the manufacturer. The smartwatch runs Google WearOS, an advanced operating system specifically designed for wearables. But it also works without any problems on my iPhone under iOS 14. And so the sports watch is ready for use after just a few minutes. Many of the settings on the watch – including the watch faces (Watch Faces) – can be easily adjusted. If you like to get involved with technology, you can first play around with the functions and familiarize yourself with the watch.

Strengths and weaknesses of the smartwatch
With the Suunto 7 Stone Gray Titanium, the strengths clearly outweigh the weaknesses. The high-quality design with the titanium grade 5 bezel and the fabric strap is particularly impressive. The bright and colorful AMOLED display is easy to read in brightness and sunlight.
But the watch also cuts a really good figure when it comes to sports: numerous sports programs allow you to record and save training sessions in order to get an overview of your training results. In particular, the precise recording of the heart rate convinced.
What's exciting are the so-called heatmaps, where you can see which routes other athletes are taking. This way you can find new routes for your training. Breathing exercises, for example, are available for stress management.
Technically, at least on the iPhone under iOS 14, everything works perfectly. The clock can be set up in just a few minutes and synchronization also runs regularly without any problems. Regular updates are available for the smartwatch apps and the operating system that introduce new functions. For example, there was a major update in April 2021 that brought numerous functions to the Suunto 7. These include the following functions:
- Sleep (duration and phases)
- Body reserve (energy level)
- Daily heart rate (heart rate curve over 24 hours)
- New outdoor dial
The more negative features of the smartwatch include minor problems that do not have a particularly negative impact on the user experience. At first it's a little irritating that you have to install two apps on your smartphone - the Google Wear OS app and the Suunto app. If you make the display bright and use the watch intensively, the battery will discharge relatively quickly.
This also applies to most other smartwatch models. One thing that distinguished Suunto was that the watches were produced in Finland - they now also come from China. However, the quality does not seem to have suffered. The fabric bracelet is certainly also suitable for sports - since you want to enjoy it for a long time, you shouldn't sweat it and shouldn't wear it during your workout.
Power
- high quality design - the combination of titanium with the fabric bracelet looks very elegant
- AMOLED display - can be configured as an always-on display - with bright colors and a deep black tone
- Operation is intuitive using the four buttons and the touchscreen
- When measuring the heart rate, there are only very slight deviations of one to three beats per minute
- Heatmaps for athletes - see where other people ride their bikes or go jogging
- numerous sport modes and stress management
- It is very easy to establish a connection between the Suunto app and third-party fitness apps
- Apple-Health integration for iPhone users
- The smartwatch's operating system and apps receive regular updates
weaknesses
- As an iOS user with an iPhone, you have to install two apps - the Google Wear OS app and the Suunto app
- With prolonged use, the use of the always-on display and high screen brightness, the battery discharges quite quickly
- "Designed in Finland" - no longer "Made in Finland", but "Made in China" - however, there is no noticeable difference in quality
- The fabric wristband seems to be sensitive and it is better not to wear it for sports or sweaty activities - you should get a sports wristband for such purposes

Suunto 7 Stone Gray Titanium review:
My conclusion
The Suunto 7 Stone Gray Titanium is a typical one Gadget from Suunto: rock solid, precise and reliable. As an Android and iOS user, you can't go wrong with the smartwatch. The design is elegant and timeless, the functions are state-of-the-art and the quality of the watch is what you would expect from Suunto.
As a die-hard outdoor fan, hiker and climber, I would rather choose the stainless steel version of the smartwatch. In the office, in Beach vacation, for jogging and stand up paddling I would definitely prefer the Suunto 7 Stone Gray Titanium. The bottom line is that the smartwatch is an all-round successful facelift that is definitely one of the best sports watches currently available on the German market.
The manufacturer loaned me the smartwatch for a detailed test. In my test, I describe my personal impressions, which embellish all of the watch's strengths and weaknesses as objectively as possible. My advantage: I get an Amazon.de commission if you order the smartwatch via my website. For this reason, there is no point in reporting more positively about the product than it actually is - because if it does not meet your expectations, you will send it back.
